Let’s face it, an auction is a nervy process for ALL of us! Whether you’re a buyer, vendor, agent or even an auctioneer the butterflies will be in overdrive!
Here’s the thing. However confident you sound when you talk to someone on the day, your body language, energy & tonality are communicating WAY more.
You NEED to be aware of how you act, feel & move towards others. Particularly when you are moving between demographics, if you get this right then your level of connection will sky-rocket!
Here are some key highlights to be aware of around communication.
A degree of empathy can go a long way. Just feel your own nerves, they will be there, and use that to tune in to clients. Be careful not to fake it though, that will not help.
Italians use their hands to communicate. Indians shake their heads to agree with something. Aussies deepen their tone of voice when they don’t believe something!
The Point? Each demographic communicates much more differently than you realise. If you pay attention enough, you’ll be able to read what clients are saying which is handy for auctioneers.
